Mutant Sounds reborn - The Italian posts of Mutant Sounds vol. 11 (La 1919/Klangstabil)

La 1919

La 1919 - L'enorme tragedia (1985). Following Eric's post of their Jouer. Spielen. To play CD, here comes the 1st ever tape by this Italian duo of Luciano Margorani and Piero Chianura . This time is more electronics oriented blending somekind of "future" jazzish electronics.
Released through ADN label.

La 1919/Chris Cutler/Charles Hayward/Roberto Zorzi - Jouer. Spielen. To play (1994). The Italian duo of Luciano Margorani and Piero Chianura (who comprise La 1919) skillfully craft fidgity, scrabbly, art rock constructs that owe a great debt to Massacre's fevered perambulations and which are, on this mid-90's release, beautifully underpinned by two of art rock's greatest and most distinctive drummers, Chris Cutler and Charles Hayward.

Klangstabil - Gioco bambino (2000). Part of a raft of releases that came out within a few years of one another, all utilizing the sounds of Nintendo's gamboy (sort of a precursor to whats happening now with the umpteen variants on the sound of the Buddha box) , though actually, this half German, half Italian group (an otherwise more specifically post-industrially geared outfit) had their go with this stuff a few years before Stock, Hausen & Walkman's Matt Wand and Poland's Gameboyzz Orchestra entered the fray. For someone like me that adores the idiotically blippy and childish tonalities of, say, Picky Picnic, mutated reconfigurations of candy coated bleep-bloop like this are aimed right at my pleasure receptors, though in the case of Klangstabil, they do about as much as one could to recontextualize the goof right out of these sounds (in a sort of Tietchen-y fashion), something that lends a curious frisson of it's own to the proceedings here. This lengthy CD has been divided into two parts.
